Lumecca Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment

What is Lumecca?

Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) on the market to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. This means fewer treatments to reach your aesthetic goals (1-3 compared to 4-6 with the nearest competitor) Many patients notice significant improvements after their first treatment.

What are the benefits?

Lumecca improves the appearance of:

  • Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)

  • Vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and

  • poikiloderma

  • Rosacea (redness)

  • Freckles

  • Sun/UV Damage

How does it work?

Lumecca uses specialized and targeted wavelengths for redness, inflammation, and brown spots.

Our nearest IPL competitor is a less specialized “jack of all trades” IPL treatment which leads to less specialized treatments and requires more treatments for desired results.

During treatment, there will be a bright flash of light from Lumecca and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Lumecca has a cooling tip for more comfortable treatments. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour.

Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterwards the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

What areas can be treated?

Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common treatment zones are areas regularly exposed to the sun. This often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands, and arms.

How many sessions will I need?

Your doctor will recommend the ideal number of sessions to be performed based on your condition. Treatment times and frequency will be specifically tailored to produce the best results for you. You may be sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment and it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.

Can I tan before my treatment?

No. Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning at least one month prior to treatment.

How quickly will I see results?

Visible improvements in skin sun damage and complexion can typically be observed a few days after the first session, with the most visible results after 1 to 2 weeks.
